Comparative analyses were used to measure gains in MMT certification numbers across the state and to measure MMT examination results for the percentage of Cohort 1 MLI teachers who prepared for and passed the MMT exam, and the percentage of total MLI teachers who passed the MMT exam. Cohort 2 candidates are currently engaged in the preparation program and will sit for the exam during the summer, 2009. Using a narrative approach, we analyzed anecdotal data culled from teacher-manager communication notes such as emails and reflective journal entries that were required during Summer Leadership Institutes, and culled from participant focus-group statements. At this time, an analysis to determine evidence of improved student learning for students taught by MMTs cannot be conducted but will take place when data are available. This evidence exists for MLI (e.g., Mc Coy, 2007; National Science Foundation, 2007).
